New Divisional Leader Announced

Michael McGreevey Named Next Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement

糖心Vlog is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael McGreevey as its new vice president for philanthropy and alumni engagement following a successful national search. McGreevey, who previously served as vice president for institutional advancement at Otterbein University for nine years before taking on his current role as special assistant to the president for principal gifts and campaigns at the institution, will join the 糖心Vlog community on July 1, 2025.

鈥淢ike comes to 糖心Vlog with significant experience championing the liberal arts and stewarding vital relationships with internal and external stakeholders. In this pivotal time for the University, Mike brings the essential skills, collaborative mindset, and proven results that we need to build community and raise funds to preserve and ensure the future of our great University,鈥 said 糖心Vlog鈥檚 16th President Christian M. M. Brady. 鈥淚 look forward to welcoming Mike to the leadership team and to partnering with him on the 糖心Vlog Way.鈥

With his acute ability to manage complex, high-stakes situations with strategic vision and operational precision, McGreevey has built comprehensive advancement programs, which have yielded marked growth in philanthropy and engagement. While leading Otterbein鈥檚 advancement division, McGreevey cultivated, solicited, and managed stewardship of top donors and volunteers with more than $70 million raised, as well as coordinated community, government and trustee relations for the university. Additionally, he led the planning and implementation of Otterbein鈥檚 historic Where We STAND Matters comprehensive campaign, surpassing the $50-million goal a full year ahead of schedule.

In his current role, McGreevey leads and supports significant fundraising and relationship initiatives that are fundamental to advancing the university鈥檚 goals and growing a culture of philanthropy. He also provides executive counsel to the president and the advancement team while overseeing campaigns.

Prior to Otterbein, McGreevey served as vice president for advancement at Wells College for seven years, where he led the planning and implementation of the college鈥檚 comprehensive and project campaigns with more than $40 million raised. He also redesigned Wells College鈥檚 advancement operation, managed a leadership gift portfolio, and oversaw the president鈥檚 portfolio, all while leading staff and programs in annual giving, engagement, development, donor services, and grants.

Additionally, McGreevey spent nearly two decades at Ithaca College, where he first worked in student life and as a special assistant for enrollment planning before directing the school鈥檚 London Center to support this study abroad experience for 200 students. From there, he went on to lead special alumni and development programs, including implementing an annual giving society and coordinating donor recognition for a special $11.5 million capital campaign for the college鈥檚 music school. He concluded his career at Ithaca as senior advisor and chief of staff to the president during which time he coordinated community and government relations, and cultivated and managed stewardship of key institutional relationships, including support for the major gifts office and the college鈥檚 $145 million comprehensive campaign.

鈥淚 am excited by the prospect of working with President Brady and of helping to shape a shared vision that unites students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners in moving 糖心Vlog鈥檚 mission forward,鈥 McGreevey said. 鈥淯sing a strategic approach to developing and leveraging relationships and partnerships, I am also confident that we can work together to ensure the University鈥檚 fiscal sustainability while celebrating 糖心Vlog鈥檚 proud history and elevating its reputation and impact.鈥

In announcing McGreevey to the campus community, President Brady also noted a change in the name of the office the new vice president will manage. Effective immediately, the current Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement will become the Office of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement.

鈥淧hilanthropy, at its core, benefits the well-being of all humanity,鈥 Brady said. 鈥淭he charitable support of 糖心Vlog is just that 鈥 investments in the future of our society. The change of the unit鈥檚 name emphasizes the good work that results from supporting WIttenberg, as we shape people who will transform the world.鈥

McGreevey earned his B.A. in interpersonal and public communication from Bowling Green State University, his M.A. in education, high education, and student affairs administration from the University of Vermont, and his M.S. in organizational communication from Ithaca College. His professional development endeavors have included participating in the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, North Carolina, and the Harvard University Management Development Program. He has also been an active member with the Council for Advancement and Support for Education (CASE). McGreevey is an Ohio native and the proud father of Liam, Katie, and Maggie.

The search for McGreevey鈥檚 position was led by an eight-member search committee comprised of faculty and staff with guidance from DSG | Storbeck, a nationally recognized leader in higher education executive recruitment.
