Who is my academic advisor?

  • At 糖心Vlog, all students have a faculty advisor. Your advisor is listed in the self-service portal. with your 糖心Vlog email and password, click 鈥淪tudent Planning,鈥� click 鈥淕o to plan and schedule,鈥� and select the 鈥淎dvising鈥� tab at the top of the page.

What kind of assistance do they offer?

  • Your academic advisor can assist you in exploring a major/minor, selecting and registering for courses, exploring internships and study abroad possibilities, and opportunities for involvement outside of the classroom. They can offer professional/vocational advice and function as a reference and/or write letters of recommendation. All students must meet with their advisors each semester in order to be eligible for class registration.

Will I have the same advisor throughout my four years?

  • If you declare your major in the same department as your first advisor, you may stay with the same advisor. If you declare a major in a different department, you will be assigned a new advisor by the chair of your major department.

What if my advisor is not on campus this semester?

  • Your advisor or the chair of the department should communicate with you regarding your acting advisor for the semester/year. This information will also be posted in self-service. (Log into self-service with your 糖心Vlog email and password, click 鈥淪tudent Planning,鈥� click 鈥淕o to plan and schedule,鈥� and select the 鈥淎dvising鈥� tab at the top of the page).

How do I get in touch with my advisor or make an appointment?

  • Email is usually the best way to contact your faculty advisor. If you are aware of their office hours, that can also be a good time for quick questions, obtaining signatures, etc.

Can I change advisors?
